$100.00

Silk, one of the most ancient sources of protein fibers, will be the focus of this workshop. Students will work with a variety of silk types - Bombyx, Tussah and Eri. Together we will explore both spinning and dyeing silk, using natural dyes. In the morning spinning session, the focus will be on the many different ways silk is available to spinners - caps, bricks, roving, cocoons and raw fiber. In the afternoon, we will explore the wonderful world of natural dyes and how silk dyeing can result in a palette of iridescent colors.
